MORPHING -Edwina Straub
August 1 – October 16, 2011
Nalanda Gallery
Naropa University
2130 Arapahoe Ave
Boulder, CO 80302
About this Exhibition: Recently the artist referred to her work as “a variation in medium and appearance, my work is a search of what is constant in both the past and the present. My art is a facility without its own territory, an experimental process of creating something as a result of where my emotions, my inner rhythms lead me. This process begins inside but I take my cues from the outside. Process and cues produce complementary images of contradiction and harmony. White images of clouds hovering on the wall with a foreign presence, at once strange and familiar as seen in Morphing and Flow I). My strategy is to package my most personal, complex and innovative ideas for consumption and reflection. By taking them out of an identifiable territory, my inner narratives of longing, resistance and pain become utterly available.
“On Fire” Dramatic New Textile Installations by Regina V. Benson
Sept. 15 – October 8, 2011
Ice Cube Gallery, 3300 Walnut St., Denver, CO 80202
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 15, 6 – 9 pm
Regina’s recent contemplations of forest fires and volcanic eruptions has led her to create this body of work that asks the viewer to share in a visual space filled with glowing embers, emerging flames and distant fire bursts – works that undulate off the wall and ceiling. Creating her marks directly on the landscape, Regina Benson uses rocks, grasses, and even the falling snow, to inform her vision, marrying the message with the medium.
“In/Visible” -Sara Rockinger August 26 – Sept 30 The Dairy Center for the Arts, BoulderMcMahon Gallery

“I find when I am working on the layout for a new Glow Box™ I blend colors just as an artist covers a traditional canvas with paint. My design is an abstract “painting” but the medium here is wool fiber. The “canvas” I use is created with silk chiffon and wool, then wrapped around a custom wood frame specially equipped with LED lights to make the piece self-illuminating from behind.
